Pieces in this juried exhibit incorporate the apple as a major element of the work. Meet some of the artists, enjoy refreshments, and view a unique art show. The City of Wenatchee is the �Apple Capital of the World�; this exhibit celebrates the apple in Wenatchee and the re-opening of the museum�s Apple Industry History exhibit. �Apple Art� will be on view in the Main Gallery of the museum from Sept. 5 through Oct. 25, 2008.

September is harvest time. In celebration of Wenatchee's identity as the "Apple Capital of the World," the Wenatchee Valley Museum is proud to re-open our renovated apple industry exhibit -- and to feature apples and orchards in an art exhibition in the Main Gallery.
We hope you will join us at the opening reception for "Apple Art" on Sept. 5 and the re-opening of the apple industry exhibit Sept. 20. Details are below. You're always welcome at the museum; we're open Tuesdays-Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Wildlife Photography from South America and Malaysia

Description:
On Thursday, September 11, wildlife photographer Nate Chappell will present an evening of bird and wildlife photography from Ecuador, Argentina, and Malaysia. This digital slide show will be held at the Wenatchee Valley Museum and Cultural Center beginning at 7:30 with doors opening at 7:00 pm. Nate and his Ecuadorian wife, Angie, travel to Ecuador every year to visit her family, lead tours, and record the wildlife they observe. The Ecuadorian part of the presentation will focus on the beautiful birdlife, with many images of stunning hummingbirds and tanagers from the western coast region, the Andes and the eastern Amazon region. A trip to Argentina will highlight the Ibera Marshes, one of the most important wetlands in South America. The Malaysia portion focuses on the primates and birds of Borneo including images of both the Proboscis Monkey and Orangutan.
Attendees are invited to join the speaker for informal discussion and refreshments following the presentation.

A benefit concert for HIV/AIDS awareness, in memory of Dr. Richard Tucker. The internationally renowned Seattle Men's Chorus and Seattle Women's Chorus combine to perform the best songs and moments from their 2007-2008 concert seasons, in a performance that will delight your ears, dazzle your eyes, tickle your funny bone, and warm your heart. Captain Smartypants from the Men's Chorus and Sensible Shoes from the Women's Chorus will also be featured in this musical extravaganza which will leave you breathless and wanting more.
